    Default Blue Mountain E Coli?

My dad lives on Blue Mountain lake and heard from a local old timer that there was E Coli there. He fished yesterday and didn't see anything posted. Anyone else heard this, and can you eat fish from the lake if it's true?

I don't think it would be wise to eat fish from the lake but I would ask D10 or call the Agfc, I was at Academy Sports in Fort Smith yesterday and heard a few guys talking about this topic, I believe if it were true the corps or Agfc would close part or all the lake and put out a public notice.

As long as you fry the fish well I see no problems , but when it appears in the water swim beaches are closed . With so many Chicken , Turkey, and livestock farms it pops up in our waters . Not to mention faulty septic systems during heavy rain peroids . Usually if bad bactreia shows up in water samples the COE and Forest Service swim beaches are closed around here .

    Default Blue Mountain E Coli?

E Coli is always in the lakes and in you! They probably got a goose terd in the sample! But seriously when a sample comes back bad they close the beach immediately usually. And since fish are cold blooded they can not carry the E Coli virus so the meat should be good to eat. Just be sure to wash them and your self good at home. And don't drink the lake water!

Meat should be good to eat. Just keep your cuts on your skin out of the water. Ecoli pops up in those mountainous lakes every year where there is an insane amount of rain and high water. Alot of nutrients flush into the lake and the ecoli thrives in those conditions until the water settles down some.

In food born diseases, E Coli is in the top 5 of being the most deadly. Please do not lick your fish before putting them in the live well.

Really. next thing you know, they'll be telling you not to drink the water in the fish box. Times are really
changing and getting more and more complicated.

I usually keep a Mountain Dew in the fish cooler. Does this mean I can't Dew that anymore? Not sure I can keep up with these developments
