    Default Night lights

I have a setup like that on my boat. Works great but eBay is a lot cheaper on price.

Just placed on order off Ebay for some strip lights. Be sure to get the IP67 or IP68 lights, the IP68 are completely submersible!!
5m strip, power supply and remote was only like $26, I plan on mounting some on the inside as well to illuminate the deck as well.

How do you keep from damaging the lights when going aside of a dock or other floating platforms?

Correct. They are mounted to the bottom of the rail. I used the 3m adhesive strip that came with it to mount them then added a little clear silicone to the ends for added security to hold them. I also have a lawn mower battery under the dash to run them at night. I used them for 7 hours the other night off the mower battery and only used about half the battery power. I also have my radio on the same battery. But if it did go dead I can flip a switch and it all transfers to my trolling battery.

I used some of those on my kayak and the bugs drove me crazy. I now use these Amazon.com : 12V LED GREEN UNDERWATER SUBMERSIBLE NIGHT FISHING LIGHT crappie squid boat : Sports & Outdoors, they are submersible and draw vary little power. The whole purpose is to create that bait (plankton) to form around the light and then the big ones come in. It takes a little time but it works great.

You can also buy the light strips and make your own submersible ones Amazon.com: SUPERNIGHT (TM) High Density Green Waterproof Led Light Strip, SMD 3528, 600 LEDs 5 Meter or 16 Feet LED Strip 120 Leds/M: Home Improvement. It was just easier for me to buy one pre-made because of the small connectors that need to be soldered to the wire (tried it in the past with the ones that I had on my kayak). Just wrap them around a dowel and in case them in a clear plastic tube with some rubber caps on the end.
