I fished White Springs in Wheeler Wildlife Refuge today. Slow day, but got a few keepers. Water was 75 and clear, best bait was a Bobby Garland Itty Bit on a 1/32oz jig head. Fish came in two to three feet of water on lily pads and isolated brush.

Always try to read your posts, and every time I end up thinking I just gotta get me a kayak. That sounds like so much fun.

Good job. I went out to White Springs last weekend and only picked up one gill. The water last Saturday was so clear the fish could see you coming 2 miles away and I did not bring a long jigging pole.
You must have left by 3pm as my bud and I put in about that time. There were 2 guys in a canoe ahead of us. Next time you go please mow the grass up the ditch HA!! Also watch out for cottonmouths as we have , for some reason, 3 different times, had an encounter with one. They like to hold their ground . And they were big boys. Oh almost forgot , we did manage 36 gills and 4 crackers today from 330 till 630pm Did not try for crappie.
Where is White Springs peractly? Not being a "small water" bass guy I've fished Wheeler for years but don't recognize the name of this place.
White springs is right of the side of the road if your going north on 31 cross river and causeway and get in right lane like your getting on 20 headed to 565. It's the little Ditch right on the side of the road. The ditch goes way back then opens up into a big bay I guess you would call it.
SnapperKing,
The snakes are thick in there, lucky so are the fish, so I keep going back.
