Saw part of it where they were talking about it. I agree, it's hard to believe. Every small engine repairman tells me the same, not to use it. Wonder how much kick back he get's for tell everyone it's safe?![]()

Anyone watching this show. I love the content and some of the tips you can pick up on this show. The Ethanol content they are promoting is absolute garbage however. I have worked on far too many engines where the damage is evident. Rarely was damage like this seen prior to the introduction of this substance into our fuel. Don't believe a word of it and don't put it in your outboards. Just my 2 cents but I wanted to bring this up for discussion.

I do like the show as well and tape them all to watch later, but agree with both. I would never run ethanol in my outboard. When you have 99 % telling you it destroys engines and 1% trying to sell it, doesn't take me long to side with the 99%.

Hmmm when bought my boat in 2010, I was told to fill with regular unleaded. I was warned to not use premium. I can say I have added nothing else and Motor has been running good. In fact I have been reluctant to put nonethonal in.
Rumor has it that the newer engine will take the regular unleaded. However the difference in cost isn't worth the risk if they are wrong.
My truck is an E 85 model so I hope I'm safer running regular unleaded with alcohol .
The strange thing in my mind is bad when I messed around with race engines and switched to alcohol and started to switch jets to make it run, we always started with double the jet size then tuned from there. That would equal double the gas so where is the savings and how does my truck figure out that I'm running alcohol even at 10%.
Just another mystery I'll never figure out.

I use regular gasoline in all of my boat motors, I have seen where if you leave it setting in the carbs for a long time (Months) then it will pull moisture into the fuel bowl, and settle to the bottom. This causes problems, but can be fixed. The key is to run the motor often, and I use seafoam in the gas. Have not had had problems in years, but I crank mine about every other week.
Fishing is a science, study, experiment, fail, and succeed...then start over tomorrow. Yeah I'm a science guy.

I am NOT by any means an ethanol fan!!!! I run pure gas 90% of the time in my 1990 mod 175GT Johnson that I bought new.WE have ALL been running ethanol in our boats, cars, trucks, lawnmowers, and everything else for years...For all of us old enough to remember think back to the 70s and GASAHOL.yes the gas companies NEVER stopped putting ethanol in our gas, just quite telling you about it.For years it was added in lower concetrations 2,3,5%.....It was a NON issue, the trouble has started when distrubitors started adding 10% PLUSS and they do sometimes. When you get gas with too much ethanol you are had.Back to my old Johnson I still have the original fuel pump, and original fuel line. They are ALL marked from O.M.C. as ethanol resistant and they are at proper levels. If you get too much ethanol in a blend it will kill your rubber parts in your motor, and fuel system.Oh by the way Crappiemasters blocked me when they first took on American Ethanol as a sponsor,I told them they were selling out to the money.and they did

I won't get deep into this discussion but ethanol cost me 550.00 repairs on my Mercury 4 stroke. Chatlee said it was ethanol and Mercury did not and would not say it was not. Mercury paid half the bill and the tech told me it was a Government thing and he did not run ethanol in anything he owned. That was good enough for me. I fish at the coast sometimes and every marina I have seen offers pure gas.
