    Default Lake Murray Shellcracker report*

Well, Inkdabber made me feel guilty about not fishing so I decided to hit the lake for a couple of hours early this morning. Weather was perfect, no wind and cloud cover. I got set up and had what felt like a nice fish on only to have the line break right at the hook, which means I did not retie when I should have.
Anyway I ended up with a mixed bag of mostly shelcrackers, with one cat a couple of bream and perch. The perch are what finally ran me off. Must of had a school of the little buzzards move in and they started gobbling up my night crawlers time they hit the water. Name: IMG_20160509_1311038_rewind.jpg

We were talking about finding the clam shells to identify good spots to try. Thought about it when I pulled my anchor and found shells on it.

Default I've been catching some really nice Shellcrackers too.

Most have been in about two feet of water and I caught most of them on crickets.

Ray, we used to have shell like that in a local lake. You could fill a box with the chinquapin(crackers) in short order. Sometimes 30, 40 boats. Big shell bed. But the cane fields dumped enough run off into the lake it covered the shell. That was 15 to 20 years ago. Well low and behold they are dredging the silt and trying to save the lake. Hope it is before I get to much older. lol

OpiemusRex, man you should do your own report on that. You would have a chance to enter the Bobby Garland contest I'm having.

Very nice Ray, nice looking mess of fish. Good to see you lay those golfing bats down and pick up those fishing poles.
