If I fish during the hot months I'll be longlining curly tail or slider jigs. Trick is finding fish in 20' of water (or less) that is willing to bite.

How many of you will pull jigs year round?
Can this be effective in upstate lakes during the hot months?
Do any of you long line with just a minnow on a jig head?

Remember, the key is finding fish willing to bite. And if theyre willing to bite then they will chase so I try getting jigs down around 14'-15' deep pulling at a slower speed, a very long cast, and pulling off extra line running a 1/16th jig with a splitshot about the same size as the jighead (#7 I think). Fish eat during the summer months too.![]()

I move up to a 1/8 oz head when the fish are deeper and I'm guessing that a #7 weight added to a 1/16 oz jig will give close to or maybe a little over 1/8 oz. But at the same time a box of weights are cheaper to buy than new jigs![]()
The main thing to remember like Butch said they do eat in the summer months. Try hitting the water early before the sun gets high or the last couple of hours before dark. Good luck

Hey Stickers I am running a similar rig to yours. 40 Yammy on a 1648 Duracraft. Mine is a stick steer. Yours? We have a sticky at the top of the page where you can post pictures of your rig. That way we can recognize each other on the water.
Mark 1:17 ...I will make you fishers of men
Hey Ray! I will post a pic of my boat soon. So you know I am the guy Franke Shipley was on the phone with the morning you and he fished secession. My name is Matt
