Default Do-It 2.5" Fry and 1 5/8" Ice Pick Blues

Has anyone else experienced this with this mold? This is the 1 5/8" ice pick and 2.5" fry molds which if you go over to Do-It's forum people associated with them will tell you this is the tail mold for the 2.5" fry mold. Wrong!!!! $50 down the drain along with another $80 for the complete mold and probably a complete waste of me even trying to sell these molds after posting this!!! In the 1st pic I have the ice pick tail within the fry cavity and the ice pick isn't as wide or tall as the fry tail therefor resulting in the body plastic overflowing into a quarter or more of the tail when shot as depicted in pics 2 and 3. Doesn't matter if I cut off the nub off the ice pick or not, it doesn't shoot properly. And to add insult to injury the edges of the tail mold are very ridged. So ridged that tears will occur very easily where the grooves are throughout the tail. I've never seen such an un-smooth bait. Look closely at pic 1.

I haven't had a very good track record with Do-It and their plastic molds as they are very hard to shoot, don't shoot completely without a miracle from God or don't align properly when shut. Out of a total of 5 ordered only one operated properly. I would post this at their forum but posting pics takes a little creative work. More than is necessary. Any advice as I'm ready to just throw these molds away as I don't want anyone to experience the night of frustration I've had with these molds?

Somehow I forgot to take a pic of the bait with the tail trimmed. It just did the same as the pic posted but bled on top.

Whoa. Nowhere in the catalog or the website does it say that a 1 5/8" Ice Pick can be used successfully as a tail for the 2.5" Fry bait. The 1" Ice Pick can double as a tail for the 1.75" Fry, and that is hi lighted in red in the catalog. If you're putting parts together that are not specifically designed to work with other molds then you're on your own for results.

It has been said at the forum is where I read it.

On the brighter side of things it shoots laminates great. Even turned the one side of the ice pick mold into a laminate plate so all is not loss. The 3rd pick you can see ventilation grooves I cut into fry mold.

Are you happy with the fry mold itself? I found a guy that has the 2.5 inch fry mold. Has 5 of them with 5 lam plates.he is wantin $285 for them all. Thinking bout pullin the trigger.

Jerry is no longer earthbound, but he was called on this after making his statement. The regular ice pick bait makes a decent tail for the 1.75" fry bait and some have used it in the 2.25". But The 1 5/8" ice pick was never advertised to be a tail mold for the 2.5" fry.

That is a really great price and I'd have to jump on it.

Am I happy with the mold in itself? Yes but I'm not happy they don't have a tail mold for it. I never understand why a tail mold isn't made to compliment the body/tail mold especially when it is a great seller. Tail molds just make life easier. Most likely I will sell enough baits to recoup my cost then dump the mold.

Yes I'm aware he is no longer around but was unaware he was called out on this. Sounds like I will be trying to mod the ice pick mold to work with the fry mold. I have no use for it and might as well try.

They dont adjust any old molds as they have no way to. All they can do is load the tools and push the button.. Problem when a guy sells out..

I have the 2.5 and it's always done fantastic for me but the ice pick is a different mold. You can't always believe what you hear on the Internet Name: uploadfromtaptalk1462475813988.jpeg
