    Default Lake Barkely Report

Fished all day Friday until we got run off by thunder and lightning. No Crappie. Zero. Notta. little. big. nothing. Two catfish on noodles. No bluegill or shellcrackers of any size. And to end the day coming from LBL to Cadiz on the 68/80 bridge we had to wait 40 minutes to cross. Took them that long to move some equipment. Sorry for the bad report but you got to take the good with the bad.

Don't throw in the towel yet!!! I caught four nice Crappies last night in a few minutes about 8 FOW smallest 14 biggest 16 3/4 each one full of eggs. I will concede it has been a strange year for Crappie. I think there is still a good couple of weeks left.

Interesting that it has been a strange year. Spring has been very spring like, nice easy warm up. Temps have been pretty stable. Lakes are not flooded out. Wind has blown some but that is pretty normal too.

From a weather standpoint it should have been a bang-up year.

We saw water temps Monday on Barkley from 65-72. These cool nights have kept the water temps down. A 72 surface temp may be 68 degrees or cooler 4 feet down.

My conspiracy theory is the massive herds of 50lb Asian carp meandering around at the surface has the crappie scared to death to come out of the cover ...
