    Default Clinton 4/30 - 5/1

Grinded out another tough weekend given the conditions. Both days my clients probably had well over 40 fish respectively, but could only find 9-10 keepers each day. Tons of small males. We searched all over the water column for the females that had more than likely moved out some, but couldn't locate them aside of the ones we did run into in small numbers. I'd say between the 4 trips on Saturday and Sunday, we saw 4-5 females total, biggest almost touching 14. Tons of Channel Cats (I mean more than I've had in the boat over the past 5 years), random Whites and Wipers, and a few really nice Smallies to boot. All in all a good weekend for four guide trips, but man it's gonna continue to be tough.

Water clarity was decent on Saturday depending on where you were. Marina cove was fairly clear, with most of the mainlake being chocolate milk. Sunday the marina cove had stained up some, but the mainlake again was complete chocolate milk. Not looking forward to the corps pulling water here in the next few days. Hopefully everyone else had an alright weekend, but man it sure was a grind. Fun was had by all though!

Very small sampling of pics of clients.

Welcome to the website! And thanks for the report. If the corps starts pulling water, how does that effect the bite? What do the crappie do if they drop the water level?

Almost the exact same story as last year's Clinton spawn, it'll pretty well kill that bite and the fish will move back out.

Looks like I better get out there before that happens than. I normally do good as the water level is rising. BUT with cooperative weather. This cold front with 40 degree nights the next few days aren't gonna help much either. I hate fishing the spawn.

Still plenty of fish to be had right now, it's just a grind weeding through those 9 3/4" males depending on where you're fishing. I'm sure there's someone out there doing better, but hey still can't complain putting fish in the boat and sending folks home with a nice mess regardless.

Yea there's so many dinks that I get tired of it after awhile. Looks like you guys did good though I wouldn't have worked as hard and would've went to another lake. We have done better at Pomona this year with better quality fish. But don't tell everyone now. lol.
