in arkansas i think you have to be within 50 yards of the limb line, trot line, or yo-yo or it is illegal and considered abandonment. you also have to put your name and phone number on yo-yo's for them to be legal and the wardens can ticket for leaving them hanging. personally, i just cut them if no one is monitoring them so my line doesn't get tangled.

I have no problem with the length limit but I really don't like the limit of five fish.

I probably am in the minority on this one. The MDWFP said "The number of anglers fishing Lake Washington has been increasing over the past several years, and we are proposing these changes to help protect the crappie fishery from overharvest," said MDWFP Fisheries Biologist, Nathan Aycock. "The regulations will increase the average size of fish harvested, and still allow folks to harvest fish for their table."
If they are concerned with "overharvest" why not just reduce the creel limit and/or eliminate any fish under ten inches. I'm coming from the point of view that believes every lake should not be made to be a trophy lake. I have heard many fishermen comment on the quality of fish (I take that to mean size) not being what it once was. I have heard no comments indicating the quantities are decreasing. If MDWFP has research to show the population is decreasing I am even more in favor of decreasing the limit. I love my slabs at Grenada and the rest of the big four but there should always be a few really good lakes where you can go and catch several pan sized fish. Right now that's Barnett and Washington. Just my opinion and yours is just as good.
