    Default OK Guys...Weekend's Almost Here!

Looks to be a great fishing weekend. I'll betcha that you'll also see some water lice abound too. Anyway, get up early, catch ya a good mess of fish, and let 'em have it once the sun gets high and hot! That's my plan anyway.

I'm off work tomorrow so I should have the lake to myself. Sat. me and Allen have a couple of foodplots to put in for the deers. Then, if I get a chance and can sneak away I might give Sunday another try for the crappies again. Oh.........sooooo much to do and so little time! Anwyay, who else is fishing (day or nite) and where ya headed? I'll be on Russell tomorrow and probably the Hill if I get to fish Sunday (wifes Birthday Sunday so dunno yet). Here's my local forecast....

After a 19 year hiatus from tournament fishing, my lifelong friend and I will be fishing the SCCA tourney on Wateree this weekend. Been 20 years since I've been on Wateree until last weekend but we have found a few nice fish this week. Hope they'll cooperate in the morning. Either way, it's gonna be a good day on the water.

I was on the water at first light with lines in the water as soon qas I could see. Started catching skidders and it stayed that way for a couple hours. Only had 3 keepers over 10" in the well and the bite all but quit at 9AM (probably due to all the boat traffic....you'da thunk it was Saturday already) so with no expectations of catching any quality fish where I was I called it a day to catch up on other things at home that needed doing. Anyway...caught 34 crappies....only wished they weighed a lb apiece.

I hit Murray Friday morning to see if the Shellcrackers were biting. I put in at Koon Landing which is one of the largest public landings on the lake. Every parking space was filled. I got lucky when I saw a guy coming out and I got his spot. This on a Friday, hate to see it on the weekend.
Had my buddy, Harry, with me and we managed enough for dinner tonight for me and my first mate.
We threw back several smaller ones and probably 6 or 8 Channel Cats that ranged from 2 to 3 pounds. In retrospect I should have kept a few to fry as well. Next time they won't be so lucky.
It got really hot for April and I am not looking forward to July and August heat.
Nothing to brag about, but looking forward to a fresh fish dinner.
