We decided to go to the lake and give the cranks a try. We fished about 4hrs and ended up with 8 keepers. Thank you Arkies for such a good crank bait.

Im interested in trying cranks myself just trying to gain a little knowledge before attempting. I thought Summer time was the only time to use them , guess not. So if your fishing 16 fow and 13 ft down how much line do you let out and what speed are you going?

I have switched to pulling with braid this year so it's still kind of guessing at the moment but I was letting 90' of line out. I know I was getting at least 13' deep bc I would hit bottom when I got in less than that. There is a chart for pulling cranks that I have printed out and in my crank bait bag.

That's the thing about getting set in your ways. The last two years I have been pulling cranks starting about April 1st. It's a misnomer (Terry I'll explain that to you one day) that you need 60+ degree water. Not always as effective as the riggers, two polers or brush hopping but some days much better. Fish have been scattered and by crankin I have covered MANY miles of water. And I have only been pulling ARKIES this year. For the price, colors and quality as good as any other crank.

Great pics of that young man holding that slab. Glad you had a good day. I've caught crappie year round on cranks. Love those shoes, they are way too cool.

ok, so another question on crank baits if you dont mind, how shallow will you fish them? and what the best time of the year you like to us them?
