Default MONDAY AND WEDNESDAY OCONEE REPORT

Jim and I fished Lake Oconee Monday out of his boat and today out of mine. We kept 20 fish Monday and 25 fish today. The morning bite was best for us on both days. We had 20 fish by lunch time today and picked up 5 more after lunch. The good news is the fish are in the woods. The bad news is the fish are in the woods. We caught fish early in the channel near the timber but as soon as the sun started getting high the fish ran for the forest. As always timber in 25 FOW seems to be ideal. We caught fish on all of the usual favorite curly tails yet the best fish catcher both days was the red/yellow/chart tube jig pictured in this post. We probably caught at least half the fish on Monday on the tube jig. It worked well today also and we had good success with it last spring. Jim pushed jigs out the front both days and I pulled out the back.

You would have heard some poetry had you been in the boat with us this morning. A nine inch striper hooked himself while we were making a turn. He managed to tangle six lines before I could get him in the boat.

Jay, I met one of my friends at Oconee late Monday afternoon. We kept 26 pitching to the bank and blow downs. Most were beautiful males with their tuxedos on. Mike was supposed to take pictures because he kept them. He forgot to take pics, not to happy about that.

Great catch. We have been catching a few of the guys also via the the trolling mode. They are like you and me. They like the woods too.
