    Default Grass shrimp re-visited!

I've been on line looking for some secrets and this next one is close. I found and easy way for the eyes using mono. Melt it with a lighter and bingo! It's crude but can't wait to try it!Name: image.jpg

That is a good looking shrimp. Is that a chenille or dubbing body? Good job!

nice tie!!! a cheap alternative is get a cheap hair brush or buy your wife/girlfriend a new one and take the old old and cut the stems with the nubs off, thin the ends a little and tie them in.

If you don't need the eyes to stick out, you can take light fixture bead chain and spray paint it black. That's what I do.

Guys I keep saying spend a little time over on FAOL and look through their lessons and their tips page. So much info you may have an overload. All these things were discussed there long ago!

Welcome to the site and board!

Fly Anglers On Line. I mentioned it a lot in post before and also in the sticky post with links at the top of this board. If looking for they lessons just click on fly tying, then beginning tying and that is fist batch of lessons, then intermediate and finally advanced. There is a lot of super good info there and lots to lear correct. I learned a lot of my base from right here as there was not all this stuff on youtube or boards for tying other that Fly Tying boards. Their tips page is where got my info to paint eyed with the flat end of a drill bit and then every one picked up on that little tip. Next maybe it's the steaming of old chenille to bring it back to life? Lots of great info no matter what you tie.

that fly looks good! there is a fly tying material out there though that is a dead ringer for a shrimp pattern. I will probably get the name wrong but here goes. flash blend with the name steve farrar on the package, sold by h20 I think and made in south Africa, anyway when you tie this stuff go real sparse with it, catches more fish that way. this stuff is transluscent and has very shrimpy colors, when the sunlight hits it it lights up with reflection pretty good.
