    They are prone to corrosion in a wet environment. At 120V, it's not a huge issue, but currents are higher on a 12V circuit and voltage loss is more of an issue.

    What about dielectric grease with wire nuts?
    Good idea?

    Dielectric grease is an insulator, so you don't want it on the conductors until they are connected.
