Default Tough day, but we fought the good fight

It started at the ramp, I split the crotch completely out of my shorts. Thank god I wasn't going commando or that little thing would've been in the wind that's how far the split was. I then realized my seven year old forgot his life jacket and I had two very good reasons to run back to my place.

So we started over and fought an incredibly tough bite with the constant breeze. These are the best two of the eight we kept. Caught these two nice ones dropping and popping government stake beds with redworms under a slip cork. The straight line bite sucked today.

Way to go Troy and son. Just don't give out too much info or you will have more company than you can shake a stick at.

I can relate to the split pants scenario. All of it.

Great pic of that young man making memories. Way to go dad on making correct safety choices on loved ones. Wished everyone did those.

These big males are really sporting their black spawning colors. We caught these on the new St. Croix Panfish ultra light rods and buddy, they are awesome rods. These fish pull like a morning train!

I mainly use the smallest Pflueger President spinning reel that they make. I do have some cheaper model Pflueger reels in their Trion series too. I have several ABU Cardinals but overall, I like the President best.

I actually play these big fish out to the max. Once I know I have the initial hook set fairly well, I will almost always back the drag way off and enjoy the fight. When they enter my boat they're spent from this method. You can't do this in heavy cover but in fairly open water or once you pull them away from the structure, it's really fun to play them this way.
