    Cool Lake Grenada Mississippi fishing

Well Jack and I made our trip to Mississippi to fish Lake Grenada. It was fun but did not turn out the way we expected. The fish are still spawning and shallow. The first day we hired a guide to take us out and show us some places to fish. Neither of us can wade so that was out of the question. The wind was howling and raining cats and dogs. We elected to wait until after lunch to fish hoping the wind would die down but did not happen. We met him at 11:00 and launched. We did not go to far from landing and started fishing. We were tight lining in 10 to 15 ft water and fishing about 5 ft deep. Water temp was 64 degrees and raining. We caught about 15 fish with three over 12 inches. We were using straight med size minnows. The second and third day we changed tactics and pulled jigs. We pulled 1/8 and 1/16 jigs with curly tail bodies. Second day we had 9 keepers and Sunday we only had 3. Caught some grown white bass also that made the ride home. It was a good trip but if you go to catch a lot of fish save you money. We talked to one guide Sunday that had a party of 3 people, they were tight lining minnows and only had 2 keepers. Got some pictures will ask Ray to post for me. Next trip Lake Weiss in Alabama and Reelfoot in Tenn. Don and JAck

I hate y'all didn't do better, but truthfully you waited to late to go. I've fished Grenada numerous times during tournaments and can guarantee you, that lake, when right is a crappie factory. White crappie, as big as they grow live there. March is prime time, with another big bite in September/October. Thanks for posting, good luck next time around.

Don, glad y'all had the chance to go and hate that you didn't do better. I'm sure y'all still enjoyed the trip and trying new waters. From all I've heard I think you will like Weiss.

Thanks for the report Don. I do hate y'all wasn't able to get on more fish as most of us wants to fish that lake also. With this weather and wind I can understand the lake being hard to fish lately. I know big dreams of wall hangers coming back with you fell short but I am glad that y'all had a safe trip.

THanks Ray for posting pictures for me. We had a good safe trip and managed a few fish. We had not planned on bringing home any fish. Those in the picture we kept to give to our neighbor then they decided they did not want them. We can cross that lake off our bucket list and add more. Don

Don, IMO any lake woulda been about the same outcome under those conditions. It's TOUGH anywhere in the kind of winds we've had this past month. Glad you guys made it out there and back home safe and you did manage catching some fish. Thanks for sharing your report and pictures.
