We were at Midway last Sunday, worked hard to bring home 11 Crappie. Mississippi was on the rise at the time and while we didn't think about it then, it was pointed out on here and made sense why we struggled. Looking at the River stages, looks like the River has peaked and may start down again so fishing should pick up at Midway, however with the rain over the last few days, this could change again. Sunday when we were there, it was too windy to fish the wide water, so we trolled the narrows about a half mile to one mile from Ed's fish camp. Lots of people fishing, but not many catching. I am heading for Grenada this weekend, but next week am planning to give Burnt Cane a try, it has been several years since I fished Burnt Cane. It is another in that area that you might consider.

I also thought about going to Grenada wading. But I am trying to expand my territory here other than wappanoca and horseshoe and houge lol. I check the river gauge and was told the river gets in at 21 at Memphis

I fished Hogue twice this year and got eat up by small crappie, so haven't been back. Poinsett always provides me with decent size fish and enough each trip to make a nice mess. I understand about expanding your territory, my trip to midway was the first time I have been there in a couple of years and it has been even longer since I have been to Horseshoe. This will be my first trip to Grenada, going down with a Buddy of mine that has a deer camp on 62 acres within a mile of the lake, so we are staying at his camp and fishing, maybe doing a little Turkey hunting also.
