Default LAKE OCONEE FISHING REPORT MONDAY 4/18

Jim and I fished Oconee together for the first time in a month. We started fishing at 7:30 a.m. The water temperature was 64 degrees. We marked fish in the creek channel in 20-25 FOW. Jim was pushing 8 rods out of the front of his boat while I pulled 8 out of the back. As usual I was pulling 1/16 jigs with a 1/16 split shot and Jim was pushing 1/16 oz jigs below a 3/4 oz sinker. We were trolling 1 mph and fishing deep. The early bite was good but as the sun rose the bite slowed and the fish scattered. We stayed with our technique and moved out towards the mouth of the creek and began to pick up better fish in 25-30+ FOW. The bite was best between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. We had 19 fish by 1:00. Then the bite stopped. The afternoon was SLOWWWW! We continued with our pattern and caught a few of the less desirable fresh water aquatic species but no keeper crappie. We stubbornly continued on. Finally, after a lot of hard work and determination, we reached our goal of 25 fish 10.5 inches or better. When we finished we were both "plum tuckered out". The afternoon water temperature reached 73 degrees. Acid rain, Wildcat, Popsicle and a June Bug Slider seemed to be the best colors. Hobo it was good to finally get to see you and talk to you on the water for the first time in a while. It was a great day.

It wouldnt steer last weekend and i had to take it back to the dealership for them to adjust the motor. Too much torque. They say they got it fixed.

Want to fish Sinclair and ozone but don't know the lakes. Only place I ever fished is West Point . A week ago they were on the rocks at 18 inches below a cork I was casting. Last sat we caught 2 , Sunday I slow trolled and caught 1 bream. Went to a deep water dock and caught 4 hawgs but they were so deep the devil was fishing shallow LOL the cool weather and the rain just totem messed up. Don't guess they will be coming back to the banks so ready to start casting tree tops
