Default Today my girls hubby will crappie fish first time

Taking my son in law crappie fishing for his first time he's not an outdoorsy person but thought he might wanna try it, He tried a 10ft rod last night and swung the line in a bucket a few times so we'll see how he does pulling a slab out of a pile. I figure I won't fish much today but it's OK if I can teach another the joy of the thump !

Today is a fine day to take a son-in -law , you might ruin his desire to Crappie fishing if you don't catch in the rain . Wish you good luck , looking forward to a report .

I have never been a pro-type fisherman, but I've always been fairly outdoorsy. My father-in-law took me bass fishing at Lake Columbia several times and he always beat me up pretty badly plastic worming for bass. I, on the other hand, usually worked him over pretty good when we would crappie fish together at White Oak Lake or on the Ouachita River here in Camden. He always had peanut butter crackers and Milwaukee's Best beer........fine with the peanut butter crackers, but the cheap beer was pretty hard to choke down, but I managed. .

"Papa" Dale Wilson was a good man and always made me feel welcome. He was a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything and would give you the shirt off his back. He was also a member of the "Dicky Do Club," as he would say, because his belly stuck out farther than his..........

On Martin Luther King Day in 2003, Dale was working on his boat motor in his shop and had a massive stroke and passed away at the young age of 66. I miss him and will always remember how he treated me, and his other son-in-law too. We were both treated like we were his own sons.

I'm sure your son-in-law will enjoy hanging out and fishing with you. Nice of you to make him feel welcome and a respected member of your family. GTT

Well my son in law done well and his first pitch he caught a 13 in white crappie what a smile he gave ! I let him keep it of course being his first crappie. He got the hang of it faster than we both thought ! He continued to do well and brought in another 5 nice fish and for myself well let's say I got beat yesterday by a young man who had never fished a day in his life but I was spending a lot of time teaching more than pitching. I'm very happy that I and others can teach the next generation of fishermen so the tradition can and will continue. Yes I was whooped by a rookie.

Well done Preacher. Glad to hear that he caught some fish. Hopefully he enjoyed it enough to continue fishing with you.
