    Default Midway?

Been hearing good things about Midway this week. Playing with the new boat on Poinsett tomorrow to get used to her, then going to Midway on Sunday. Anyone been there?

Well, I have been there now, and I can see why no one responded to my post. We fished from 7am until 3 pm, besides them stinking stripped bass, we only put 11 crappie in the boat that we considered big enough to keep. all were caught on minnows trolling the narrows. too windy to spend much time on the wide water, and nobody was catching anything in the cypress trees or brush. smallest crappie we kept was just under 11" and largest was just under 13", nothing to brag about. Heck I can do that well on Lake Poinsett and not have to drive near as far. Oh well, tomorrow is another fishing day, we will see what we catch then.

Mississippi is on the rise about a foot a day. So you catch 11 between 11" and 13" a day on poinsett? Sounds good to me.
Crappie bite twice a day. 15 minutes before I get there and 10 minutes after I leave.

Didn't think about ole muddy being on the rise. Guess that answers that for me. And yes Poinsett can deliver like that. Friday at Poinsett had 14 that size. Had to work most of the morning to get those and the wound catching most of them off of one submerged tree suspending about 16 feet down. Trolled all day, and the single pole with a red and pearl jig tipped with a minnow came thru.

Glad you're enjoying your new boat. Sounds like a couple of good trips to me.

    Default Midway?

Thanks Bill, absolutely loving it. Went to Poinsett today, caught 20 between 7 and 10, then only 5 more by 1 pm. See kept 10, and turned the others loose to grow some more.
