    Default Taylorsville report 4-17

Bite was hot today. Might of been on the water 3 hrs today. Got on the water about 9:30. The 2nd spot i tried held fish and we had 2 limits pretty quick. Quicker than im used to at T'Ville. Fishing about 4 to 4 1/2 ft deep about 5 feet off bank. Fish were doing their thing and the action was hot. Half of fish were female and the eggs were mushy getting ready to drop. Most fish were blacks and they definitely had their tuxedos on. Temp bout 63 degrees and all fish were caught on minnows. I normally fish with jigs but minnows under a cork did the trick today. Going tommorrow and will report.

Nice mess of fish. So now that the spawn is on at Taylorsville, how long will the bite stay this good?

Hey is ishields, dont really know when the spawn started, but the whole thing usually lasts about a good two weeks. Maybe more because different areas of the lake will spawn earlier than others, and you always have straglers showing up late to party. Blacks normally spawn a little earlier than whites. The majority i caught yesterday were blacks, but both whites and blacks had mushy eggs in them ready to drop. Males will stay shallow longer defending the nests. Always had better luck with tube jigs during that time. But as with everything else there's no one rule fits all. Better get while the gettings easy anyways. Good luck.
