I CHECK IT EVERY NOW AND THEN JUST TO SEE WHATS GOING ON.
LAST NIGHT I WAS CHECKING NEW EQUIPMENT
when I fished at night I learned that the electronics sometimes slowed the bite down, so I started turning them off and my catch ratio went up !!! but I would do like you did turn it on to see what happening every once in awhile and back off during the night !!!

I always left mine on and always watched it too. If the fish moved up in the column after a couple hours I'd want to adjust my hooks accordingly.
Like Butch I would leave mine on also. Sometimes the bait would be from the top to the bottom and those times I could have turned it off but never did. I do know that the transducer will make a sound and understand the reason of turning it off.

I never noticed the sound bothered crappies. I know it don't stop white perch, it may increase the bite some times. LOL
If at night it bother's them, then why in day time does it not matter, plus the motor running when holding over them to fish aggressively?![]()
