Default Last day of the season for me!

Went to Logan Martin with my long lining and bass gear. Started out long lining then when the bite slowed started bass fishing. Think the best of the long lining season is done on Logan Martin. Caught about 20, but most were 9 to 10 inches that I believe were still spawning, which in my experience is typical in the area I fish. The smaller ones seem to hang around longer. Kept the biggest 10. Released the rest. Water temp was still 63, same as last week. Caught in 8 feet of water. While bass fishing in the area out in front of the town and country launch seen the the crappie pro guy who guides on Logan Martin fishing over structure and semmed to be doing pretty good. Look like he was sitting still spider rigging over brush piles. After about 20 minutes he would move to another spot. Seen them catching fish every where they stopped.

Anyway I stayed in that area bass fishing and caught about 15 bass, but only a couple nice ones. Got home and put away all the long lining stuff, cleaned my carpets, and wiped everything down. Now I'll bass fish until June then stop until fall. Been a decent year, but not great. Probably would have been better if I wasn't chased away by the wind on most days!

You da man. Congrats on another good day. You could try to learn some other techniques such as spider rigging and fish for them all year long.

Id break out in a cold sweat if I was hanging up my rods now for crappie, LOL its 24/7 365 im thinking where I need to catch them and hopefully 2 to 3 times a week im out looking for them. Other than some late April and may trips for blue gill and shell crackers and a few Saturdays in the late fall for Sauger ,its a year round thingy, but to each his own. The jet skis may get too thick for you on your lake. They are like mosquitos up here but they do not wake up till usually around 10 am and we are gone by then ! I keep hoping they will up the limit on the ski's so we can take a few more of them out(grin) .

Maybe for long lining, but once this rain moves out and it warms up, I'm back on it!

Congrats USAFRET on another productive early season. It's good to have the fillets in the freezer for those good ole summer fish fries! Tight lines!

The long line bite ends...? Not sure I understand that statement.

Don't know about your lake, but for me long lining may to nov is so unproductive it's not worth the effort. Plus I don't fish at all jun thru august. To hot and to many people out playing. Now I might do some night time crappie fishing in the summer. Any one out there have decent luck long lining on lakes that have plenty of deep water. I know I don't. Besides I love top water bass fishing about as much as crappie fishing.
