    You want the bead to be big enough it touches or almost touches the rod when line is pulled tight. It's when they hit and the line gets a little slack and then tightens up that you get the click. Sometimes when they just take the bait and pull straight down you won't hear anything.

    Of course if your hearing is like mine you have to depend on your partner to hear the click. Scott " click on your side", he's a BIG help for me.

    You may want to take a couple of your poles and move the bead back one more eye and try it. I never liked the bead getting tangled with the tip in rough water.
