My dad, my brother, and I went to Ky Lake for our annual spring trip last week. The water temps were hovering around 60 when we got there but fell a degree per day. Looked promising when we got there but the cold nights and brutal winds quickly dashed our hopes of water temps staying in the 60's.
The wind was pretty calm on tues which allowed us to cross the lake but all day Wed and Thurs morn was brutal. No hopes of crossing the lake made us trailer to a different spot, which payed off. Finding fish was as hard as I've ever seen, but once we found some the size was great. It really took all we had to fish most of the day Wed and Thurs morn. Grit really had to take over if we had any chance of catching fish.
We were scheduled to stay till Sat, but with the wind and rain coming in Thurs and Fri, we decided to leave at lunch on Thurs. I debated on staying but I was glad we left when it started snowing at my house on Fri. This spring has been different to say the least.
We found a ton of Dinks out in deeper water. Several of my spots were covered up in little uns. But the big boys and girls were definitely holding to a common pattern.
Big attaboy to my brother. He really put on a good show in tough conditions. I held us on our spots in the wind and he set the hooks. The colored up male he is holding in the last pic above is his biggest craap to date and the biggest male I have ever laid eyes on.
It's now time to turn my attention to my Tville . Warm temps return later this week. Let's hope they hold up.
