    Default Cedar Creek 4-7-16

Got a late start Yesterday with my son Lynnie and brother in law Everett. Headed down to Cedar creek for stripers, we got there roughly around 1:15 pm with the wind blowing up river at like gale force winds it felt like. It is amazing that up in Great Falls no wind to worry about, then get to the river and it's blowing like all get out. Well we unhooked the boat and went down river to our planned location and got set up with the boat pulling anchors with the wind. We ended up going to the bank and tying off to a log and setting up again with a break off immediately on first rod. It was slow except for some huge catfish that Lynnie was hoisting in every other cast or so. We managed to get 18 stripers all different sizes with some break offs and some that went under a log or rocks in front of the boat maybe 20 foot in front of us. Catfish were in 5-10 pound range but keeping only one, why I don't know! It was a bad day weather wise but a good day with family.

Glad you got your BIL on some fish. I looked at the wind forecast and stayed home.
    Thanks for the report

No, it wasn't us. We were in my 16 ft. blue/gray Alumnacraft just up a ways on the left from where the pontoon was if we are talking about the same toon. We moved 3 times trying to get set up. We were the funny looking guys who looked out of place, most people just wait for film at 11. The pontoon we saw was just below the islands mouth opening on the left heading to the big rocks on the point.

We should have stayed home too! But when you got that itch and a kid screaming he's off and wants to do something, you got to go! I had the chore of cleaning fish. Um, somethings wrong with this picture!

Thats the one, we never made it up past the rocks. So we couldn't see you up there.

It's too bad there is not a lower limit on Lake Wateree. 10 fish just seems like way too many, especially considering how easy they are to catch in the spring in the river section of the lake.
