Default Kayak Trip Report, Indian Creek

I fished Indian Creek today, single pole with a 1/16oz White Marabou jig on laydowns. I caught about 50, kept half a limit for the freezer. The fish were scattered and biting very soft. The water was around 60 degrees at daylight and warmed to 63 degrees by lunch time. I would have done better, but there was a lot of water being pulled out of creek. The water dropped a foot in six hours, that much current made fishing hard.

Great job DB, sounds like they are sucking the water out of the lake again. Bellies don't look swollen, have they spawned out?

All Crappie still had eggs, looks like they're still a week or two away from the beds. All fish came from 6 to 8 feet with nothing on the banks yet.

I believe that most Crappie spawn in Barron Fork or the sloughs further up on Redstone past the barrels. Most of what you find in Indian Creek are transitioning in or out. My guess is flats with stumps and hard bottoms in 4 to 6 feet of water is where the early spawning fish are. It's been too windy for me to spider rig the stump flats at Decatur or Limestone Bay in my kayak. Anyone catching good numbers in those areas are normal quiet about it for the next few weeks.

Great catch, they've spawned out down in South Al! Water temps Tuesday were 66-69° and they've scattered.

I gave Decatur a shot Monday and Limestone Tuesday. I had it all to myself Tuesday. The water was 61 by lunch and muddy from the wind in 5 fow. The wind was crazy bad. Wasn't worth it.

I second that!! Decided to go catch some catfish this morning on Wilson and came as close as I ever have to sinking a boat! Waves were at least 3' if they were an inch.
