    Default Shearon Harris Report 4/1

Again didn't find any fish shallow / back of coves. Was marking fish in 10+ fow suspended about 5-6 foot spider rigging probably would have got them but didn't try that as had my boy with me. Switched to bream fishing and son caught several good ones. Funny thing is as soon as I took off the minnow rigs and put on a bluegill jig he caught a nice crappie

Water temp was around 65 degrees.

I went Friday evening for a real quick trip and found a few in 17-20' of water in the middle of a cove. The fish were suspended at about 10'. Around dark when I was packing up I noticed several shad topping the water and bigger fish chasing them. Just for the heck of it I dropped a couple of minnows down about 2' and ended up catching like 6 small 4-5" crappie.

So I'm wondering if they have spawned? I'm rather new at crappie fishing this is the first year I've tried to track the spawn. I thought they spawned at 60 degrees so I'm confused as to what they are up to.

My understanding is that 65 is the magic number. I would venture to say that the majority have spawned out but there will be a few late ones that will continue over the next couple of weeks just not in the large numbers like during the peak. I haven't been catching very many that are still full of eggs. Others can chime in and correct me on the temp.
