Default Ahead of the Front...Santee 3/31/2006

Winds were blowing, the sun was in and out, the fish were biting! Jig fished brush in the 6 to 14 foot range. Caught fish all morning long with most being short. Then, just as if someone flipped a light switch. Every brush held quality fish. 125 caught on the day, with a box of good'uns getting a ride home. Best color was a John Deere colored Rooty Tooty.

I agree with Tim. Your so lucky to get to fish that often and catch quality fish like you do.
Congrats on the catches. Keep catching and keep on posting!

There should be two lines in the paper. One saying how much Santee Cooper dropped the lake. And the other saying how much you dropped it by pulling out fish.

Lucky....... I don't know about that. I work extremely hard at crappie fishing. A day in the boat with me will be a whirl wind of running and gunning unlike most folks have ever experienced before. I seldom stay in one location longer than 10 minutes, then off to the next location. Placing brush out year round is quite the chore, but the rewards are in the box full of fish caught on most trips. I am a night worker, and have been for a very long time. I celebrate my 35th year work aniversary on the 21st of this month. We recently went to a 4 day work week which allows for an extra day to fish, golf, or spend the day doing things with my wonderful wife. I've made many sacrifices over the years, but my love of crappie fishing is, and continues to be strong. The good lord willing, I plan on fishing for as long as I can hold a pole. Lucky, I think not. Blessed, that I am.

A good cooler of crappie Tim, congrats on another day of pulling them in. Looks like the darker color crappie are starting to show up on the lake.

The tannic water of the Santee back waters makes for some beautifully colored crappie pretty much year round.
