    i think you may be right about the big floods .. Seems to me the species I fish for crappie ,catfish and shellcrackers are not in the same places I could catch them as before the floods

    I had the grandson down here for his spring break. We tried several places and mostly fished from 8-15' FOW. We tried long lining in Swamp creek of Friday and struck out there. We caught most of our keepers on Saturday and Sunday fishing stake beds between the power lines and the island.

    We did have about 15 keepers total and one 18" bass that my grandson caught on a drop shot rig in 13' FOW. He thought he had a monster on that long jig pole. All in all we had a great time and I know he would have liked to stayed longer but I had to take him back to the St. Louis area on Monday so he could be back in school on Tuesday.

    i have been fishing just north of I 40 and have been catching more keepers than shorts. I have been spider rigging in 5 - 7 feet of water using jigs tipped with minnows. I normally get 4 or 5 that are 15 inches the rest between 11 and 13.
