    Default VietNam Veterans Day

Vietnam Veterans Day commemorates the sacrifices of Vietnam veterans and their families and is part of a national effort to recognize the men and women who were denied a proper welcome upon returning home more than 40 years ago.
Most states celebrate “Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day” on March 29 or 30 of each year. Though there is some debate, March 29 is generally viewed as a more appropriate date. On that day in 1973, the last combat troops were withdrawn from Vietnam and the last prisoners of war held in North Vietnam arrived on American soil. It is also the date President Nixon chose for the first Vietnam Veterans Day in 1974.

Welcome home to one and all who served in Nam. You were done wrong 40 years ago and I hope our welcome home now does something to erase the bad memory of that time.

Welcome home. The city of Welsh LA are in the works of having the I-10 over pass dedicated to my uncle and name sake. They have state approval and are waiting on the paper work to be finalized.

Nothing we can say or do will negate the fact of how they were treated (on home soil) for just following orders. Welcome home to all of the brave souls that fought in that war, my uncle (Charles Hannon) was just one of the many that fought in that terrible war.

Sorry to hear that G.....I for one am thankful to all military personnel who keep this country free to do as I wish in a safe environment...and as for the dangers of today, I look up to the soldiers, as well as law enforcement, who inspire me day to day, as unfortunately as it is, these dangers are real and we must be prepared for such.

Know what you mean "G", had to do the same thing. Couldn't believe it when I learned why I couldn't land a job with my qualifications after the discharge. Glad the man
who hired me was an old salt that knew the railroad needed telegraphers and hired me. He was a stickler for perfection and didn't cut anyone any slack. Military grade
type of guy. He had interviewed a bunch of young guys before I came along. Best move I ever made.

Know all about what your job was when in the Military. It seemed as though everyone knew what ORDNANCE was all about and Aircraft Carriers. I finally had to put on my applications I was an Electrican as I had some schooling, and could read Schematics and do the work
