Is there a size and creel limit on that lake? If not, you could thin a few of the smaller out. Were you able to mark any bait balls to see if the food source is plentiful?

It has been 20 years since I last fished Lake Reidsville and it may be 20 years before I go back. This used to be a very good crappie lake. We caught 110 crappie long line trolling with jigs. All the fish were about 6 to 7 inches long and had very large over sized eyes. I rode around at the start and found fish suspended at 15 ft in 20 to 25 ft of water. Put out the lines and it was on. Caught 40 in the first hour. Decided to leave that area and checked out the upper end of the lake. Trolled all the way up to the bank and out over the creek channel and only caught 3 or 4. Left and moved to the dam area and tried different depths from 8 ft to 25 ft. Same results-small 6 inch fish with big eyes. I finally caught 2 fish close to 1/2 lb.
I guess these fish were stunted. I have never seen anything like this. The eyes were so large that they looked spooky. Every fish was like that. Not the results that I had hoped for but still a good day to be out on the water.

Probably to many in the lake. Still had to be fun catching so many. And more good news, you are entered in the Bobby Garland contest.
