Went out to a small local lake that has hybrids, and sand bass today. Fish were scattered all over the lake, suspended in deep water around the 17'-20' depth.
Its weird, I see them grouped in schools all winter, but this time of year, they scatter out. Dunno. I have a hard time catching them this time of year. Winter and the heat of summer, put em in the boat until you get bored with it. Spring?

Don't know, never been on a guided trip before.
When they get crazy this summer I'll try to remember this thread
The lakes around here, I look for underwater humps that have deep water near by or shallow flats near main channels.
During the day it seems the sandies and shad just kind of hang together in schools. Find a school and start slabbing them.
Toward evening, they push the shad toward shallow water and the feeding frenzy begins on the surface.
Nothing more fun than throwing a Zara spook in the middle of them and watch it get hammered.
Use the spook and have a little George on another rod.
Catch one on spook reel up to boat stand on rod and throw George
