We went Shad fishing behind Conowingo dam ( Maryland) for a few hours. Took our pick nick basket and enjoyed the day with friends. Yes the shad are there and some are active. I landed 6 or 7 in about a hour of fishing near the dam. As usually shad darts on the swing with some twitching action.

You can either use a Va salt license or a Maryland salt water license with a migratory registration. I think my Va salt lic. was around $24.00. You can check on line. Laws are kinda strange when fishing for migratory fish so double check as to what you need. However Va and Md. honor each license in the bay. Please double check what I am saying to be sure. Two years ago a MD warden wanted to arrest me for not having my MD license. We walked back to his car and I showed him in His book were my Va was legal anywhere in the bay. However above the tidal line requires a fresh water one. Deer creek for example is considered fresh water.

Addict, you went fishing and shared it with us, and that is all that matters, crappie or not. It would be nice to see the Pa board more active, than it is.
I am trying S 10. I am licensed fly fishing guide out of Cumberland co. I do more then just fly fish. Hope others can enjoy fishing as much as I have over the years years. It is a 2 hour trip to Conowingo from my home so most guys want to be sure the fishing is good before going and getting disappointed. Thank you for the thumbs up. Tony
