I've seen them bite huge chunks out of boat paddles. No way that thing is coming in my boat. I enjoy my fingers and toes too much.

That's one of the reasons you won't never see me noodling for catfish. That thing would take your whole arm off with one bite.

That's a big'un! Thanks for sharing. Many years ago A buddy and I were grabbing frogs in a slough in the delta. We noticed an old abandoned limb line moving and figured a fish was foul hooked. It was nighttime of course and when I pulled it up and first saw the head I thought it was a stump. The hook from the line was hung in the turtles foot. It was about the same size as the one in your picture. We cut the line and let it go and have often wondered how old it was and if it's still alive. I've heard tales of giant turtles found with old musket balls embedded in their shells, amazing a creature can live to be that age.

No thanks.. knew an older fella when I was a kid was missing three fingers (middle thru pinky) on his right hand courtesy of one of those big suckers. He caught one time as big as the bed of a pickup.. this was well after the finger incident. Interesting creatures, but another reason I don't do hand grabbing.. Lol.

My dad helped boat one at the cut off from a trotline. Not as big, it was given to the Memphis zoo.
