Cool 899ci SI DI HD Combo Transducer Questions

I recently bought a boat & am new to the electronics scene. After lurking around C.C for awhile I settled on the 899ci HD combo based on price & features. Now comes my questions; Do I need the HD transducer in order to mount to the trolling motor? Does the transducer that it came with need to be shielded to mount it to the transducer?

I'm really antsy to get this boat rigged so I can get it out!

    Thanks for any advice!

The standard transducer will mount to the TM if you have one of the mounting brackets that consists of a large worm style clamp and piece of metal to hold the transducer to the TM. The HD ducer will improve the picture you see on the HU and should mount the same as the ducer that came with the the unit.
    GO BIG ORANGE !

I meant to behave, but there were just way too many other options available at the time.

The 899 SI comes stock with the XNT 9 SI 180 T Compact SI xducer ...

You can mount the stock xducer like jimp says with the AD XTM 9 adapter ...
    Humminbird | AD XTM 9

You can get the TM style compact SI xducer which has extra shielding for possible RFI ...
    Humminbird | XTM 9 SI 180 T

Or you can get the upgrade XTM 9 HDSI 180 T which will also allow your 899 to utilize the added 800kHz SI frequency ...
    Humminbird | XTM 9 HDSI 180 T

If you haven't opened the xducer hardware bag or used the xducer ... HB will trade for the upgrade XTM 9 HDSI 180 T ...
    (For a small upgrade fee ~ $85) ...

So I went to a local Humminbird dealer to see about a trolling motor mount for my transducer & the guy there was totally against a TM mount. Said it was nothing but problems with interference and strongly recommended against it. Now I'm confused. I really want this on the trolling motor with the unit up front where I fish not 16' behind me. On the other hand I don't want to waste money on a mount or a TM type transducer if it makes the FF unreadable due to interference.

    Just looking for advice, thanks!

Thousands of users have the imaging xducer mounted on their TM's ...

While there is always the possibility of RFI from a TM ...there are remedies to help control RFI ...

Every Setup is different - every boat's wiring is different ...every TM has different levels of RFI producing iotas ...

No one can predict RFI on the TM without actually testing the Setup in real world conditions ...

or you could just get one of Rickie's "DADUCER" devices and not worry about RFI. I just installed one on my boat, can't wait to try it out Thanks Rickie

I have my HB 999 SI mounted on my TM (Powerdrive V2) with no issues. I have the XTM 9 HDSI 180 T transducer

Don't listen to that guy. He knows nothing! Lol! Seriously though, I've had it mounted to my TM without a problem.

had mine on the trolling motor, but now I use 2 trollers, 1 one for spider rigging and 1 for up in the brush. I had 2 choices get another 'ducer or Rickie's "Daducer" device, I choose to support a C.C member.
