I attended the fall pay it forward camp and really want to tell you how much this has helped my spider rigging. Even though my setup would give Whiskers fits but it is working for me and I will finish upgrading this fall. I kept a bakers dozen today. The largest was 15 inches. I was using Kentucky green and a 2 inch triple ripple pink and white grub from cabelas. I am really impressed how the largest catfish always bites the 16 foot PST trolling rods that I finally moved the to the outside. I bought 4 of the southern crappie 14 foot rods and really like them. I am tipping them with minnows even though I have tried both ways they seem to suck it down when tipped with a minnow. If I didn't have the beads on the line no telling how many fish I would miss. Still miss my fair share. I didn't realize how many things could go wrong when spider rigging but i am sure i have gone through a majority of those lessons. Any way these were caught in the I40 area of Kentucky today and again thank you.

I am fairly new to crappie .com but read it every day. Didn't get to go to the fall pay it forward. But I haven't seen anything on here about. Beads helping u not miss fish. Will u please explain
I put a bead on the line and can hear the bite. It really helps when you have eight rods out. I can add I didn't like spider rig fishing until after trying it after going to the camp. I have the bead on the line after rod eye #5 from the tip.

Thanks for sharing a great story. This is very positive encouragement for everyone that worked hard to help put the Pay it forward shindig together. Nice fish and good to see some one learning new ways to fish! CDC rocks..........

That right there is what we were hoping to achieve with the shindig. This post proves that we truly did pay it forward! Thanks for the great post! And great catch!!
If people concentrated on the really important things in life, there'd be a shortage of fishing poles.:rolleyes:gofishin LIKED above post

I would like to echo the sentiments expressed by dallman in the opening post. I attended the same event last fall and picked up several tips which have improved my catch rate. The bead on the line has also been very productive for me. This event has truly lived up to the theme of "Pay It Forward". Thanks again to all who made it happen. Joe
Just get up and "gofishin". The fish are waiting!
