I got off work early today so I hitched the boat up and headed to Hamilton for the second time in less than a week. Saturday afternoon I fished for four hours and had one nice white crappie on. Today, I could not even get a crappie to bite. I am catching bluegills and bass but the crappie are not where I can find them. The surface temp today was 61.4-62.3, I fished shallow flats, brush, drop offs, boat docks and points. Just kinda wanted to vent a little. I am ready to head to Nimrod or Conway.

I never make claims to be a great crappie fisherman and I am just as likely to share when I am not catching them as when I am. But Hamilton has been the one lake that has beat me down more than other body of water for crappie. As a result I have a strong desire to get it figured out.
I have caught crappie there but never in the numbers I know are there. I can catch bass there like clockwork, fished many tournaments there. I just find it odd that with water Temps in the low 60's that I can't even identify any on my electronics let alone hook more than one.

Patience pays off. You'll get em figured out.
Boat Dock's,Boat Dock's,Boat Dock'sWith brushpile's find the right one's close to spawning coves Black/chart/Pearl/chart.My Brother inlaw fish's boat dock's and wears them out on Lake Hamilton.Lake Hamilton has current flowing through it most of the time the crappie will be just out of the current close to spawning area's.Where their is one crappie this time of year "spawning" their is more crappie close.hope this help's.

Thanks Jackie. That's exactly what I started trying on both days. I started at docks I have caught crappie before this time of year. I worked the docks closest to the main channels working back toward the shallows. Its not that I never catch crappie on Hamilton I just can't seem to put together a pattern that amounts to much.
I am pig headed about things though and won't give up until I get it.
Hamilton isn't one of the easiest lakes to catch crappie in from what I been told, it would be way down the list for me when choosing a lake to crappie fish ,matter of fact I've never been on the lake just because there are so many better lakes to fish, I'd look for lakes with better crappie populations even if they were a little father from home, can't catch em if they ain't there !! good luck and full livewells!!!!!

Thanks Greg. I do choose to go to other lakes when I can. When I have an afternoon to go I choose to go to Hamilton because going to another lek would limit my fishing time to an hour perhaps two.
