Default New merc 115 4 stroke pro xs

I notice Mercury has found a replacement for the 115 pro xs 2 stroke. It is the 115 4 stroke pro xs. Sounds like a great motor. I'm ready to buy a ranger 188 but now wonder if I should wait a few months for this new motor.

Look at the new Suzuki 4 strokes.

I have a 115 merc 4 stroke I believe built by Tohatsu that has around 1500 hours on it

    So far not any problems

Used so much that wore battery cable out from motor movement
I thought the starter was bad.

I'm running a Merc 115hp 4 stroke, 2006 model. Best motor I've ever had. Not a single problem. It's on a 2006 Lund 'Crappie Edition'. Not the fastest boat on the lake by any means but, gets me where I want to go safely!

My mercury 60 4 stroke has been great so far. Starts with just a bump of the ignition. Fuel usage is decent but could be better. That however is largely due to the fact that I am grossly under powered. Boat is rated for a 115. Lightly loaded I can squeak out 33 with the wind to my back. I think I can manage a little more speed with a different prop because I easily over rev with the 10x12p that I have now.

My bad, I just checked the plate. It's actually rated for a 135.

Definitely not the most efficient setup but it runs fine and gets me across the water. Strangely enough I do not see much of a performance difference when I have the boat loaded down with family or gear.
