Default Kayak Trip Report, Limestone Bay

I marked stumps with my GPS in northern Limestone Bay today while the water was down. Also did a little fishing. Found stripe anywhere there was current, probable caught and released over a hundred. Also caught many small Bass and Gills. I found Crappie anywhere there was no current and some brush to hold them. Caught a limit plus, all released for another day. The largest was 16 inches White Crappie.

The wind was a pain, but it was a great day to be on the water. I saw one other boat way in the back of Limestone Creek and one bank fisherman. Except for those three anglers, I had the place to myself. Water was very clear and anywhere from low 60’s to upper 60’s. The Crappie all came on a 1/16oz jig head with a Bobby Garland Pink and Pearl body. The Stripe, Bass and Gills were caught on a Chartreuse, 1/32oz roadrunner.

Wow, you must have really had a time in all that wind yesterday especially since it was coming from the S across the bay right into you. Good trip, thanks for the report.

It has been an adventure for me in limestone. My hydraulics is busted on my outboard and travel around the bay in these shallow conditions have been tough. Hopefully thru a joint effort of a local hydraulic shop and a .com electric motor store I will be back in full business this weekend. Imagine sitting high center on stump in a 18 ft boat spinning like a top in 15 mph winds. I think the GW should start a new catch and keep program. You catch a white bass that is of 12" or greater it is yours. Take it home. This is only tongue in cheek. Kinda

    catchNgrease,

I've always caught a few, especially this time of year in the creek mouths, but never like yesterday. It would have been a great day to have a couple kids with snoopy rods in a larger boat. I only had to cast 50 feet, but every single one produced another fish. You could have made some young kids addicted to fishing for live.
