Thread: Shelbyville - newbie to forum

Hello everyone,
My name is Mike Stephen I live in Urbana Illinois Clinton lake is about 30miles from me and Shelbyville is about 70 miles I started fishing for crappie about 30 years ago I met this guy John he said come go crappie fishing with me so I met him at a bait shop by Sullivan Illinois he said you need to get a lot of minnows so get three dozen I'm waiting on John he comes out with 6 minnow buckets with about 4 dozen in each bucket he asks me how many did get I tell him 3 dozen he laughs ash him what's so funny he says nothing so we load up the boat off they way we go we go away then we pull in this small cove just right off the main part the lake I put a minnow on throw it out about half second boom caught one legal size kinda plump too this went about 10 minutes I was out of minnows I'm setting watching John he says to me out of minnows aren't you yup he gives me two of his buckets with 4 dozen in each bucket about an hour I'm out again we fished for about 2 more hours we was all out of minnows this was when Shelbyville did not have a limit on crappie I think about 20 years ago they put a limit of 15 fish per day and that ended the 500-800 fish per day people was catching trust me this not a fishing tale
