Limestone Creek Report 9 Mar 16
After fishing Cotaco earlier in the day, James and I decided to go over to Limestone and see if we could get some longlining in. Got to the creek around 1500 with James. We went up into the bay and there was no way we were going to get to try any longlining, the wind was howling across the bay and the water looked like chocolate milk. On the way in, we noticed that the Wheeler Refuge had one of the dewatering pumps running and dumping fresh water into the bay. There was a distinct water line break with the dark brown fresh water and the very muddy water from the bay. I figured there'd be some crappie in there feeding. Them and everything else it turned out. We only fished it for about 1 1/2 hours but got some nice big fat girls in that running water that were 16.5 inches! Had a total of 9 keepers in that out flow, with only a few shorts. We used float and fly. Pink/white and chartreuse was the big winner in that flow, 4' down under the bobber. Fish aggressively pulled the cork under when they took it. Water was 63.5 from the dewatering area.
