Default Hbird 899si vs helix 9

I have been planning on getting a si depth finder to network with my 859di I have on the front of my boat. Right now the 899 are discounted significantly. Anybody's thoughts on it vs the helix. I can't see major diff or reason to pay extra.

    All comments and suggestions welcomed

I have them both. I really liked my 899 till I got the Helix 9si. The helix is so much clearer and brighter than the 899. There is no problem even seeing with sun glasses on.

Price wise the 899 is your best deal. It has features the Helix doesn't. But on the Helix like FSC said, much brighter, clearer screen and I'm betting on that unit they will have some updates that may add features the older core units won't get. I am just guessing here but I think those new units have some planned in upgrade ability that the never planned on in the core units. I do think they will continue to support the core units for awhile though. So really it depends on your budget more than anything. You won't go wrong with either unit.

Cray, I am not sure what features the Helix is missing but they do have the preset buttons, unless you are wanting to spend the extra money don't look at the Helix. I'm tight as they come but if I were buying new units Helix would get the nod.

I wish they would add one update--When you drop a pin it would be great if the water depth is recorded at that location at the time of the drop.
