    Default Weiss 7 Mar 2016

Fished Yellow Creek area of Weiss today. First time on Weiss for me and I like the lake......we caught some fish. Had five keepers - all on the local jigs (watermelon with lime tail). Wind was a factor today, but we'd just run upwind and line up our drift. About 20-25 other boats in the area and I don't think they were doing any better than we were. Water temp was 55F and a little dingy, but baitfish like I've never seen. Afternoon the bait was so think the fish finder was showing what almost looked like a hard bottom at 15 feet when it was really 22 feet. All fish caught were totally white with no coloration - about 10 fish were well below legal size but it was fun anyway. We bought 6 dozen minnows but never caught a fish on a minnow - just the jigs. Can't wait for next trip down there and Weiss is a nice lake and other boats were respectful.

Good report glad you got to go ! I went for my first time over thier 3 weeks ago really liked it but boy they sure are a lot of folks that fish in one area .that day they were 28 boats in the mouth of one slough so we chose another direction with only 4 boats to start then most of the others moved to that area as well most was nice and curtious. Had a good time though .thought it was odd to see other boats following the guides around but I recon that's the norm over their.lol

I fished riverside area and caught 3 crappie all day. Very few people were catching fish. Droping the lake 3 ft since Friday didn't help. The 3 caught were good ones 12, 14, and 15 inch

The fish are starting to move up shallow. Fished yesterday for a couple hours and had 24 keepers in 4 to 6 ft. of water. Went to a different creek and fished shallow today and had 32 keepers before the wind blew us off the lake, best colors were black and lime.
