Good question I've wrestled with as well! Part of me likes the challenge of untangling them, but the other part of me says "are you here to crochet, or FISH?!" I currently use mono for my rigging, so I cut if necessary but if I ever switch to braid, it might be a tougher decision. I could imaging myself falling overboard in a giant web of gold braid line and be drug to the bottom of the lake, like they say happens of "The Deadliest Catch" with the crab-pots.

Probably time to set back take a break and have a cold drink

I'm usually hard headed and try to unravel the mess. This time there wasn't any doubt. Get the scissors.
