    Default Disconnecting vro pump

I have I think a 93 Johnson 150 hp with a vro. J150stlesb. I am wanting to unhook the vro and was curious if anyone has any experience doing this. From what I am gathering is that I just cut the oil line at the pump and plug it. Then disconnect a few wire and that's all. Is it as easy as that does any one know?

I see you asked that question on the main forum in the Mechanics Corner. You may get more responses there.

Or you can PM Sliderman about it and tell him I told you to.

I would sure talk to Sliderman first. I can't remember for sure but I read one time that on certain motors you had to buy a block off kit, remove the oil pump and install this kit. Was thinking it was on OMC motors just not sure.

Here is a handy little tool for mixing your gas and oil. My first couple boats had the pump unhooked on them and my brother suggested one of these like he used for motorcycle racing fuel. Name: image.jpg

WATCH OUT!!!!! Jared is trying that old, "Let's get a bunch of gas on his hands and see how much we can kick his butt catching crappie" trick!!!!!!!!

Well, I'm not falling for it again!!!!!! (Unless that's what I have to do to get a ride to those "secret spots" again......) Then, in that case, I'm going to bring my own crappie infused bar of Life Bouy soap or something!!!!!!

I have got a couple brand of hand sprays that will take the gas smell right off your hands. Harvest Clean is one and Scent Thief is another. They are made to remove the smell of fish or game off your hands when done fishing or before eating lunch I guess. I carry several bottles in the boat glove box and even in the truck console now. After a weigh in and culling fish all day. It's sure nice not smelling crappie/minnow funk while getting a drink from your favorite beverage.

Thanks Jarod! Spring Crappie check list just got increased a little for me! I'm not going to repeat that experience....I'm thinking the entire time.....OK, Jigging15 can smoke me, because, well, he's a pretty dang good fisherman. But when Joedog was putting it on me I had to seriously reexamine my techniques and confidence!!!!!

Ridealong I did look at mine cuz I was now woundering about mine. Exactly right plug off line unhook. I as well have a bottle to measure with as well. I have in the past put oil in first for x amount of gas and not be able to get that much gas in so be carefull. Put gas in first then oil as long as you don't fill completely to the lid.
