Typically the main spawn occurs around second week of April except very shallow lakes here . But I seldom fish spawning Crappie on banks but target pre and post spawn Crappie off the banks . I have seen male Crappie on banks fanning nests from mid March to early May some years . Not suprize'n with wild swings in weather / temps we have .

Nice fish Nimrod. I'll be chasing that 3 across the river again. If you never been to big g you should try it. I'm hooked.

That is a nice fish. Good luck on your three pound goal this year. There have been a lot of two pound crappie caught that eventually, that same fish actually grew another pound, when the story was repeated down through the years.
