Did this for seven yrs with my previous 5th,,5th was 26ft and boat 18ft..pulled with a 2500HD Chevy diesel..no problems at all..mine was 64' (65' limit at the time, now is 75')..if my present 5th had a hitch on it, I would not hesitate at all..as a former big truck driver, I DO have a leg up on some folks..it can be done safely and like most anything in life, you just have to pay attention to the details..had to leave the boat home last yr at my first camp, not good..will try to remedy that this year we'll see..proper set up makes it very doable 5

Thnx again for the good info and tips. Does anybody have any experience with keystone raptors?
Lee, I had a 26 ft bumper pull with a 1/2 ton chevy. Bought a 3/4 ton ram cummins. Pulled much, much better. I traded for a 38 ft 5th wheel. 11700 empty. Pulled from Tampa. Went and got a ram 1 ton dually. Much better. Had that 7 years. Now I just went back to a 3/4 ton Ram and have a 39 ft 5th wheel at 12400 lbs(Big Horn, similiar to Shilohred's). I hope it will be okay. Cross winds is the only issue I can think of where a dually is better. The tow rating on my new ram is 17300, higher than the 1 ton I traded in. Simply put. 5th wheels tow better, but be sure to get a good stabilizing hitch with bumper pulls. Don't like the idea of getting on the highway pulling anything behind a camper of any kind. Putting a hitch on the back end of a camper voids most warranties, unless it was factory installed. And I am just starting to sell campers part time. So much to learn. Good luck.

I have a reciever hitch on the back of my little bumper pull Jayco camper.......guy I bought it from pulled a 19 ft. fiberglass Ranger behind it. It handles my Sea Ark just fine....only draw back is trying to get in and out of gas station so I dont pull boat with it except on short trips.
I have spent most my life fishing........the rest I wasted.
