    Default An unusuaL Crappie from Lake Kissimmee


    Today on Lake .Kissimmee a friend fishing for crappie caught on a chartreuse jig a 11 inch GOLD crappie with 3 black spots. It was a georgous speckbutwas as gold asitcould be.

    Would sure like to have a picture or two of this fish...................

    To my knowledge there are no hybrids ever put into Kissimmee - 11 in would make him/her about 2 1/2 yrs old
    None of the FWC guys are know - know of any hybrids -crossbreeds

    I know, just meant to be a funny. By the way Texas has a couple of places stocked with reds in fresh water. They are one of the few salt fish that can live in fresh water.

    Tapon - snook - can also be converted
    Bass Pro Shop marine life div. has done great job in Florida of converting Saltwater fish to Freshwater and putting them in the
    fresh water tanks they have in various facilities in state of Florida
